The Thingy That Makes It Go Brrr
Render Ahead/Behind (A.K.A. The Swipe Lottery)
When you're freakin\u{2019} through songs in a set, OnSong will render the songs right before & after your current one. Sounds smooth, right? Except it\u{2019}s also gonna hog your phone\u{2019}s memory like it\u{2019}s auditioning for a reality show. So if your device is basically a potato, you might wanna dial this back. Here\u{2019}s what you got:
- Automatic — OnSong plays mom & figures out what\u{2019}s best. Usually it\u{2019}s on unless your file formats are being difficult little snowflakes & force it off. This is the factory setting, obvi.
- Off — Only renders the song you\u{2019}re actually lookin\u{2019} at rn. Yeah, you\u{2019}ll swipe to blank pages like some kinda newbie, but hey, your phone won\u{2019}t explode. Helpful if you\u{2019}re using external files that weren\u{2019}t built for OnSong (ouch).
- On — Renders the pages before & after your current jam & NEVER turns off, no matter what. Live dangerously.
Show Scroll Indicators (AKA: \u{201CWhere Am I??\u{201D Mode)
OnSong\u{2019}s got like a million scrollable panes to show off your sets. One scrolls left-right so you can find songs (revolutionary, we know). One scrolls up-down for each song itself. By default, those scroll bars on the right are basically invisible ninjas, but if you\u{2019}re tired of getting lost, flip this on & boom—guide rails.
View Files as PDF (The \u{201CPlease Don\u{2019}t Crash\u{201D Button)
OnSong will automatically murder any non-text files you import & convert \u{2019}em to PDF so literally everything works everywhere & doesn\u{2019}t have a meltdown based on whatever OS your janky device is runnin\u{2019}. This is on by default, which is smart, & it also means you can stare at these files in Low Light Mode or flex \u{2019}em in a browser with OnSong Console. Turn it off if you\u{2019}re feelin\u{2019} dangerous & wanna see the files exactly as your operating system wants to render them (spoiler: it\u{2019}ll probably look weird).
