ZOMGISH TRANSLATION

When OnSong plays MIDI files like they're totally real audio (spoiler: they're not), it's gotta yeet those MIDI events somewhere so they can become actual sounds. OnSong doesn't have a synthesizer or sampler built in — because, y'know, literally a bazillion other music apps already do that, & we're not monsters.

Pick a MIDI destination from the list where OnSong should dump all those MIDI events so they can make noise.

Lemme Just Use iOS's Stuff

The default move? No destination set. iOS just handles it & crosses its fingers that the sound comes out. Maybe. Default vibes.

Plug In Real Hardware (If You're Fancy)

CoreMIDI can connect to actual MIDI gear using adapters, Bluetooth dongles, or USB cables. Each one shows up here if your setup doesn't hate you.

WiFi MIDI Magic

CoreMIDI supports MIDI sessions over your WiFi network. Set 'em up on Mac OS X like you know what you're doing. Some MIDI companies also make products that do this (they're flexin'). Peep our MIDI video tutorials for the 411.

Virtual MIDI Ports (AKA App-to-App Vibes)

Most MIDI apps can pretend to be a MIDI destination. Basically makes your app look like another MIDI port that other apps can talk to. Totes clutch if you wanna send MIDI to one specific app & not just scream into the void.
