Lemme Hear U
The Clap-O-Matic Control Panel™ lets you do wild stuff when your mic picks up sounds—whether that's the built-in mic, a headphone jack line-in, or whatever audio gear you plugged in.
Using audio to boss OnSong around is actually kinda genius:
- Slap a Tap For Tempo action on there & let your hands do the talkin'—clap or tap to set the beat like you're a percussionist (you're not, but OnSong won't judge).
- Go full lighting designer with the Scenes add-on—stack up multiple steps & hit Continue Scene to make your stage look like a rave (or a funeral, we don't judge).
- Hook up drum pads, triggers, whatever—control OnSong from your drums like you're actually coordinated.
The Input Stuff
OnSong's got room for two whole audio channels (living large, amirite?). Input 1 is the cool one that plays nice with your built-in mic or line-in. Set each input up like so:
- Action is where you pick what happens when the audio gets loud enough to trip the wire. Sound goes BOOM, OnSong does a thing.
- Threshold is your sensitivity knob—crank it down if you're finicky, crank it up if you're sloppy. Default is 75% (meaning you gotta be 75% louder than background noise to trigger anything). Pro tip: lower thresholds = OnSong actually notices subtle sounds if you're into that.
- Inverse Levels flips the script—if sound's at 67%, OnSong gets 33% instead. Backwards is forwards, baby.
How Twitchy Is This Thing?
The audio engine's always listenin' & checkin' in at lightning speed by default. Great for tempo stuff. Terrible for your iPad's battery (& older devices will wheeze). If you keep accidentally bonkin' your drum pad & triggerin' chaos, slide that responsiveness slider around 'til it plays nice with your gear & your device doesn't melt.
