Oopsie Daisy Logs

If OnSong suddenly yeets you back to the iOS home screen, congrats—you've found a crash! 🎉 These bad boys happen for reasons our library diagnostics are too lazy to figure out. If you send us your diagnostics after a crash, we might ask for a crash log so we can pretend we know what's going on. Here's how to dig up that crash log on MacOS or Windows like a digital archaeologist.

Sync with iTunes

Every time you sync your device, iTunes grabs your crash logs like it's collecting trading cards. Plug your device in with that USB cable we gave you & fire up iTunes. Find your iOS device in iTunes & smash that Sync button. Boom—crash logs are now chillin' on your computer.

Retrieve the Crash Log

Finding crash logs is mildly annoying & depends on whether you're a Mac person or a Windows person. (You can find your device's name in iTunes, or just open Settings on your device & tap General » About. Revolutionary, we know.)

MacOS

  1. Open Finder (it's literally in your Dock, how did you miss it?)
  2. Click the "Go" menu at the top & pick "Go to Folder"
  3. Type (or paste, we won't judge): ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
  4. Open the folder that matches your device's name.
  5. Hunt for files startin' with "OnSong". Nada? Try the "Retired" folder like you're diggin' through old yearbooks. At least one "OnSong" file should be lurkin' there. Yank 'em to your Desktop.
  6. Attach the file(s) to your support case email & pray.

Windows Vista/7

  1. Open Windows Explorer (My Computer, My Documents, whatever).
  2. Type %appdata% & hit enter like you mean it.
  3. Navigate to Roaming » Apple computer » Logs » CrashReporter » Mobile Device & open your device's folder.
  4. You'll spot at least one file startin' with "OnSong". Copy it to your Desktop.
  5. Attach the file(s) to your support case email & cross your fingers.

Windows XP

  1. Find your Application Data folder. Click here if you need a hand.
  2. Navigate to Apple computer » Logs » CrashReporter » Mobile Device & open your device's folder.
  3. Spot at least one "OnSong" file. Copy it to your Desktop.
  4. Attach the file(s) to your support case email & hope for the best.
