The MIDI Thingamajig

Ohhh, so you wanna mess with MIDI events? Cool, cool. The MIDI editor lets you create or edit a MIDI event—which is a fancy way of sayin' you can tell your gear what to do & when to do it. Specify the event type, channel, value, & all those other bleepin' parameters that make your equipment actually listen to you (spoiler: it usually won't).

OnSong supports a bajillion types of MIDI events. Pick one & we'll walk you through configuring it so your gear stops ignorin' you. Fingers crossed.

Control

Control change (CC)—aka "the thing your foot pedal screams at your amp." Pick a channel & value, & maybe—just maybe—your equipment will actually respond. No promises tho.

Program

Program change (PC)—aka "how you make your synth stop soundin' like a dying whale." Pick a channel & program number. Wanna get real fancy? Throw in some bank select info & pretend you know what you're doin'.

Note

Play actual notes on a MIDI instrument without havin' to learn, y'know, actual notes. Pick a channel & note value. You're welcome.

NRPN

Non-Registered Parameter Numbers—because apparently CC wasn't confusing enough. Send these to devices that demand them. (Fair warnin': this is still kinda experimental. We're still figurin' it out ourselves.)

Start, Continue & Stop

Control your MIDI playback like a boss. No extra configs needed—they just, like, work. Revolutionary, we know.

Song Select

Queue up a specific song so your gear knows which tune you're about to botch. Riveting stuff.

SysEx

Advanced MIDI messages for when you're feelin' spicy. Manufacturer-specific shenanigans that'll make your brain hurt. You got this. (You don't got this.)

Delay

Gotta add waits between MIDI commands 'cause your equipment's slower than you are. Welcome to the life of a tech-dependent performer.
