Look Ma, No Hands!
The name of the tune you're currently starin' at is right there in your face on the Menubar. We call this glorious real estate the Heads-Up Display, & it's basically where all the stuff you need RIGHT NOW hangs out.
Wanna see somethin' different? Just swipe your grubby finger left or right. The boring default—aka the song title—is chillin' on the far left. Swipe right to unlock the rest of our mediocre treasures:
The Song Title, Baby
This is the default heads-up display which, shockingly, just shows you the song you're lookin' at. Revolutionary, we know.
Song & Set/Book Extravaganza
The song title is what matters (the big text). The set name is secondary (the small text). If you didn't pick a set, well, the book name shows up instead. Riveting stuff.
Current Banger & What's Next
Current song title gets top billing, & the next song in the set appears below like a warm-up act. If there's no next song, you'll see "No Upcoming Song" (sad trombone). If we actually know the key of the next tune, it'll show up in parentheses after the title because we're fancy like that.
The Ticker
So you're performin' & time is a thing. The timer heads-up display gives you TWO timers that start when you mash the play button, or when somethin' like autoscroll or a backing track kicks off. Left timer? That's how long you've been noodlin' on the current song—resets automatically when you jump to another one. Right timer? That's your set duration, baby.
Each timer is its own thing & can reset whenever it feels like it. Just tap the time to reset it. In timer mode, boom—back to 0:00. In countdown mode, it resets to the song/set duration, or 0:00 if we got nothin'. Sorry.
Wanna switch modes? Tap once to reset, tap again to toggle between timer & countdown. That arrow on the edge tells you which way we're countin'.
Timers are white & happy while you're in range. But overshoot the duration or go negative? BOOM—red text of shame. Yeah, we judge you.
Audio Playback Shenanigans
This display gives you play/pause/stop buttons & a scrubber bar that doesn't just show where you are in the audio—it lets you tap or drag to jump around like you know what you're doin'. Pro tip: since you're gonna swipe to change displays anyway, tap & HOLD before you scrub, or you'll accidentally swipe left & confuse yourself.
Tap the button right of the scrubber to crank the master volume. If you imported audio into your OnSong Media Library, you can also tweak the playback volume & pan for that specific track because we care about your precious audio experience.
Tap the far right button to mess with audio routin'. This opens iOS's built-in Audio Routin' menu so you can feel like a real audio engineer for like five seconds.
Memory Is Precious, Apparently
Mid-performance & worryin' about whether OnSong is eatin' your phone's lunch? This view shows how much RAM OnSong is hoggin' on the left, & how much free memory you got left on the right. As OnSong gets greedier, these numbers might climb because other apps are gettin' yeeted from memory. Enjoy the chaos.
