Divvy It Up

The OnSong file format lets you carve up your tunes into sections—because apparently your songs need organizational therapy. You just yeet a blank line between text chunks, & boom: section city. The first section? That's your metadata VIP lounge, where you dump metatags like some kind of digital hoarder. This is where you flex the key, tempo, & whatever other song stats make you feel important. Peep The Boring Stuff About Your Song if you wanna nerd out on that.

After your first blank line comes the real music: Actual Notes & Words.

Section Name Thingies

Wanna label your sections like they're your children? (They're not, but okay.) Just type a name on the first line of each section, plop a colon after it, & hit enter. In the song viewer it shows up above the lyrics in bold (fancy!) & you can also weaponize it to wreck the Flow of your song however you want. The named section keeps goin' til you slap another label on it, so you can chop things up into even tinier stanzas if you're feelin' extra spicy.

Secret Musician Codes

Sometimes you gotta tell your band stuff that shouldn't appear on the big screen during Lyriken-Projektion. OnSong's got your back: wrap text in parenthesis & it'll show up in a different color & vanish from projection like it was never there. Wanna customize the color of these secret messages? Head to The Scary Menu Where We Hide Stuff » How Your Song Looks » Song Text Weirdness » Cryptic Parenthetical Stuff.
